Dive into the captivating world of Sehwa Village, where the Haenyeos, a group of extraordinary women, venture into the underwater realm armed only with their human-powered skills. 🌊 The Haenyeos are the backbone of their community, not only sustaining families through their seafood catches but also preserving cultural heritage. 🎣 Legend has it that they earn from the "underworld" to use it in the "world" above the water. 💰 These remarkable women, numbering 30,000 strong, conducted a victorious anti-Japanese movement during a critical period, now recognized as intangible cultural heritage. 🏅 One Haenyeo, driven by necessity, even established a school with her earnings, underlining the community's commitment to education. 📚 Today, they continue their age-old tradition, passing down skills to younger Haenyeos and conducting rituals to honor the sea gods. 🌟 The Haenyeos of Sehwa, with their resilience and unique way of life, remain a source of pride for Jeju Island and a living testament to the strength of women in the face of challenges👩🌾🌏 Best Tourism Villages by UN Tourism
